The Patek Philippe Nautilus 5980/1A combines the distinctive design of the Nautilus collection with an integrated chronograph complication. This 2009 example is presented in excellent condition and comes as a full set.
The 5980/1A features the characteristic rounded-octagonal Nautilus case in stainless steel, measuring approximately 40.5mm in diameter. The case is complemented by the signature horizontally embossed dial and integrated stainless-steel bracelet, creating the unmistakable profile associated with the Nautilus collection.
The blue-black dial features a central chronograph display with a combined 60-minute and 12-hour counter, allowing elapsed time to be read from a single sub-dial. The applied hour markers and hands provide clear legibility while maintaining the refined appearance of the Nautilus.
Powering the watch is Patek Philippe's automatic calibre CH 28-520 C, a self-winding flyback chronograph movement. The movement combines a traditional column-wheel architecture with a vertical clutch system and provides a power reserve of approximately 45–55 hours.
The sapphire crystal caseback provides a view of the movement and its finishing, while the stainless-steel integrated bracelet continues the alternating polished and satin-brushed finishing found throughout the case.
The reference 5980/1A has since been discontinued, making this earlier stainless-steel configuration a notable part of the Nautilus chronograph history.
