The Patek Philippe 5905P-001 combines two sophisticated complications — a flyback chronograph and an annual calendar — within a distinctive 950 platinum case. Introduced in 2015, the 5905P brings together traditional Patek Philippe watchmaking with a contemporary dial layout designed to display multiple functions clearly.
This 2016 example is presented in excellent condition and comes as a full set. The black dial features an outer chronograph scale, applied white gold hour markers and three apertures across the upper portion of the dial displaying the day, date and month. A 60-minute chronograph counter is positioned at 6 o’clock, with a day/night indicator incorporated into the display.
The annual calendar automatically accounts for months with 30 and 31 days, requiring correction only once a year at the end of February. The flyback chronograph allows the chronograph to be reset and immediately restarted with a single operation, adding another layer of functionality to this highly complicated Patek Philippe timepiece.
Powering the 5905P-001 is Patek Philippe’s self-winding CH 28-520 QA 24H calibre. The movement combines a column-wheel chronograph with a vertical clutch and annual calendar mechanism. It features a 21K gold central rotor, Gyromax balance and Spiromax balance spring, operating at 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour with a power reserve of approximately 45 to 55 hours.
The 42mm 950 platinum case measures approximately 14.13mm thick and is finished with the characteristic refined detailing associated with Patek Philippe’s complicated collections. The sapphire crystal case back provides a view of the movement, while the watch is water resistant to 30 metres. A diamond set between the lugs at 6 o’clock further identifies the platinum construction of the 5905P.
The watch is paired with a hand-stitched alligator leather strap and platinum clasp, completing a sophisticated combination of platinum, black and polished detailing.
