The watch built around the fastest man on the wrist. The RM 61-01 was developed with Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake, a Richard Mille partner since 2012 and one of the fastest men in history. Everything about it is shaped by speed, starting with the asymmetric case. The left side sits lower and thinner so it avoids wrist drag at full sprint, which makes it one of the most distinctive silhouettes in modern watchmaking. This limited edition of 100 pieces strips the design back to black, as a stealth reading of the original.
The bezel and caseback are matte black TZP ceramic, chosen for extreme scratch resistance and a dense, understated finish. The caseband is Carbon TPT, made of layered carbon filaments, with the titanium spline screws that hold the case together left in view. Inside is the RMUL2 calibre, a fully skeletonised manual-winding movement built from grade 5 titanium with black PVD treatment. It is finished with hand-applied anglage and microblasting, runs at 28,800 vph, and stores 55 hours of power in a double-barrel system. It is tested to withstand shocks above 5,000 g. A rubber strap with a titanium folding clasp keeps the whole watch light on the wrist.
