The RM 67-02 Mutaz Essa Barshim is Richard Mille's collaboration with the Olympic high jump champion, developed to feel like an extension of his body during competition rather than an accessory to it — Barshim himself has described the brief as wanting something that "feels like part of my body." The result sits on the same ultra-light, ultra-flat automatic platform as the rest of the 67-02 family, tuned for an athlete whose sport punishes anything that shifts or distracts mid-jump.
The case is built entirely from Quartz TPT, a composite of hundreds of layers of quartz filament fused with resin and machined to a distinctive marbled finish — chosen here in vivid burgundy and white to reflect the Qatari flag. At just 32 grams complete with strap, it remains one of the lightest automatic watches Richard Mille has ever produced. The skeletonised CRMA7 calibre is built from grade 5 titanium with a black and white DLC treatment, finished with satin brushing, microblasting and hand-bevelling across the bridges, and rated to a 50-hour power reserve.
